Entry #11 Farewell

Starting off I thought that blogging was going to be a waste of time but it actually turned into something helpful. Most of the topics I discussed I came up on a whim and then used resources to help further my ideas and found it useful. One of the benefits to blogging is you can write anything you want to say, it is your own opinion. Another advantage was being able to look at other classmates blogs. It was cool to see if other people agreed with what you said or went from a whole different angle and had a different opinion. One thing that was nice is that everyone is different and none of the blogs were the same. One of the challenges I had which is probably dumb but I had no idea how to decorate my blog. I would see other blogs and all different types of cool designs and I had no idea how to do that. I just new how to change the color and that was it. By blogging for class I learned that it is more like a free write. Yes you had to have some type of structure but you were able to put your thoughts together in any way you would like. Blogging changed my thought about technology because I didn't realize how easy it is to post ideas on blogging. You can even find useful things in blogs. I thought blogging was useful because we had the chance to talk about what we wanted and then we were also assigned assignments to do. It was a good balance because we had the opportunity to use our brain to write about what we wanted and then to write about questions that we were asked. Overall I didn't mind blogging, it was something new to try and it helped me as a writer.

Entry #10 Christmas Wrapping

We all know with Christmas around the corner that wrapping presents is involved. Some of us aren't just the best Christmas wrappers we can be. I will show you a few good ways that you can wrap presents and some websites that have good tutorials.

You can always just go the easy route and get a bag and put some tissue paper in it. Which you can make decorative sometimes like this one. You have all the different options of Holiday bags that are easy and different variety.

If you want to get really creative with your wrapping their our different types of bows that you can use. There is bows that you can tie with ribbon or just simply bows that you can buy in the stores. I will put some types of different bows that can be used.

Entry #9 Media

Since we have been discussing the media, I have been starting to notice a change in how I perceive it. I have been starting to analyze commercials and how they are trying to trick us to get what they want us to do. It's sad how girls think they have to look a certain way because of the way girls are portrayed all over the media. They are in magazines, commercials, TV shows, and artists. Everyone is guilty of wanting to look like the girls that are famous but what we don't realize is they aren't perfect. They are just like us, ordinary people. But the media builds them up to be something that there completely not. They use photo shop to make them look skinner, cover up their blemishes, and make their face angles precise. If you look at the original picture to the photo shopped one it doesn't even look the same. In this picture you can definitely tell the difference between the original picture and the photo shopped one.

You can clearly tell the difference between the two pictures.


With friends you use social media to see what their up too. You can also tell that what they post can be totally fake sometimes and staged. Think about the dumb captions that they put with it, they probably spend hours trying to come up with an caption. I had a friend in high school that posted a picture on social media and it didn't get enough likes, so she took it down and posted it again later at night because she thought it would get more likes at night. Like seriously?? Your life has come down to how many likes you get on a picture.


Social media has corrupted people in a lot of different ways. I guess it depends on what your stance is on it and how you go about with using it. It all depends on the person and how they want to let it affect them. It can be used for good and it can be used for evil.

Entry #8 December "The most wonderful time of the Year"

December is the month that everyone looks forward too. It's full of cheer and who doesn't love looking at Christmas lights. That is one fun thing that you can do with your family is look at Christmas lights. There are various options that you can go to check them out. One is just drive around your neighborhood and look at them. I know that in my neighborhood their is always that one person that goes all out on their lights. Some houses can even look like this.

People can get real festive in Arizona with decorating their Cactus. Which I don't know how you don't poke yourself with doing that but obviously it is possible.


Another place that is popular for people to look at lights is Glendale Glitters. It has a walkway path that you can walk through and check out the lights. They even have hot chocolate to buy for when it is cold outside. Glendale glitters has lights everywhere and it is a fun place to go hang out. Here is a picture of what a part of it looks like.

The last place that you can go in Arizona for lights is the Zoo. They have a variety of animal lights mixed with Christmas lights. It is huge there, it will take you a good half hour to walk through all the lights. Sometimes they have the animals out also. Last year they had camel rides that you could go on which I thought was pretty cool. I will share a picture of one of the Zoo lights.

There is a couple options that you can go to look at to see lights. You can also be creative and get ideas and go all out on your own house.

Entry #7 All About Men

First off this site in general is making fun of all the things that are wrong with me. You can tell by seeing the titles of the clips, that have the word stupid in it. The site was bashing on the way that men act and how they aren't manly sometimes. The purpose of this blog is to show that men can be idiots sometimes and that they aren't perfect. I would say that the audience for this blog would be women that need a good laugh at how dumb men can be sometimes. Maybe they are trying to relate to oh that one time my husband did that or my boyfriend has done that before. I would say that it was interesting because I never realized that those commercials had those messages behind them until I saw all of them together. Seeing them together made me see the same point behind them because it keep re-accuring in the commercials.


The commercial labeled Dairy Queen Stupid Brownie Licking Guy purpose was to show that men don't know how to work tools in the kitchen. The guys wife was making brownies and he stuck his tongue in the blender with the brownie batter and turned it on. With turing it on he got his tongue stuck in the blender. The commercial was proposing that you can't let your husband work in the kitchen because he will end up hurting himself, so he has to buy Dairy Queen because he can't get hurt there. The audience could be anyone who watches the commercial because it wasn't directed towards anyone. The tone was funny because it showed an image of the guy getting his tongue stuck in the blender and his wife screaming worried. It also showed funny by the guy talking like his tongue was broke because well he almost did in the blender. The tone draws people in because it gives them something to relate to and laugh at. When it gets people to think the commercial is funny then it won't be one they forget because they will want to tell all their friends about how funny that commercial was.

Extra Credit Blog for Entry 2

The video on Michael Moore's A love Story was about Capitalism. The video had some good contents and then other times it was hard to follow. One thing that I got out of it is that the rich get richer. The people put taxes on the rich so we can have nicer things in this world. Some  of the people that were sneaky enough to do that under the table blows my mind. I don't remember what their names were but that some worked for Wall Street. It also amazes me that the FBI isn't involved in any of it to see how greedy this people are. Another thing that was crazy is the judge that saw the juvenile kids and didn't even care what they had to say about their case because as the judge sent them to the rehab/prison he would be getting money for it. Lots of money too. I hope to learn more about Capitalism in discussion because there are still some things to be learned.

Entry # 6 Thanksgiving Decoration

Some people are super creative at decorating their houses for each season. People go all out on some seasons like they do for Christmas. For October they can do all kinds of scary things to decorate with. For February people can decorate with all types of hearts. There is all different kinds of things you can do for the seasons. I'm going to talk about something you can do for Thanksgiving. I wont talk about decoration you can do for the month of November because there are so many of them, but a simple thing you can do for Thanksgiving feast.


1. Get a couple mason jars. You are going to be putting eating utensils in them, so how many people you are having for Thanksgiving can help you decide how many utensils you want to put in the mason jars.
2. Fill the jars with candy corn about 1/3 full. Set your utensils in the jar with the candy corn.
3. If you want to add ribbon around the jar, like orange, yellow, or brown to match the seasons colors you can.

A little festive thing you can bring for Thanksgiving.



Entry #5 ASU

Arizona State University is talking about offering shorter class periods in a 7 week course instead of 15. Which isn't all that bad of an idea depending on what kind of person you are. If you like classes that work at a faster pace then why not have the opportunity to take them. If online classes are offered at a shorter pace, then on campus classes should also. For people that would like to graduate early they can have the chance to, with a shorter class period. It can even help your schedule if you want to take some 7 week classes and 15 week classes. There are options to go about doing it, you don't have to take just 7 week classes or 15 week classes, you have the option to choose. Not everyone is going to agree with the ideas that people have, some will hate it and some will love it. If its helpful to students, then it shouldn't matter what others think. College is about what schedule fits into students, and if shorter classes can help benefit them, then why not. It's all about peoples preference, and if the shorter classes are offered then it won't affect anyone. If it's offered doesn't mean you have to take it, just an option for students that might want to. It is a good idea to offer shorter classes for people that want to take them.

Entry #4 November where did you come from?

Like all of us are thinking, November you came way to fast. I don't even know what happened to October, but once we start getting into the seasons I feel like they all become a blur. They happen so fast sometimes we don't take the time to actually enjoy them. One cool thing that you can do for November is buy or make completely up to you, a Give Thanks Board. There is a little pocket for every day of the Month and you can fill out on a piece of paper what you are thankful for, just for that day. Then you can progressively do it throughout the month. It is a good way to give thanks for what we have in this world. It can be a friendly reminder that we are lucky to have what we have and shouldn't compare ourselves to what others have. The month of November is all about giving thanks. Being able to say one nice thing every day, will make you a thankful person by the end of the month. I will put a picture of a giving thanks board so you can get an idea of what they look like. You can even create your own to make it original and how you want it to be.

Entry #3 News Analysis

This article was about a man that stabbed one his friends for eating the last piece of chicken it makes me think that the news just gathered the little information and wrote about it. They weren't very thoughtful as to who reported it but just said "the Police said" and not who the actual person was who thought that. Were they a detective, or maybe it was a police officers first day on the job and that's just what he assumed about the scene. The guy might of stabbed his friend because he had anger management or maybe he was having a mental breakdown and became violent. The news doesn't tell us that maybe something was going on with the guy, just that he did something horrible. The audience now will view him as a bad guy, when in reality we don't know the full story, just the short version of it. There is always two sides to a story and more information that we will know. The news just gives us the gist of the story, so we don't have time to think about our opinion we are just agreeing with what is being said. Because it is a news cite people will believe it, but we don't really know what type of police officers were on the scene. We also don't know what kind of people were involved with the crime, we know nothing about them, just what the news says. The credibility cant be reliable because we don't know who the reporter is and if we can trust them. Below I will put a link of the article if you wish to check it out.

Entry #2 Halloween Festivities

Since Halloween is around the corner it is always exciting to do something festive for the holiday. If it's watching a scary movie or decorating cookies. Maybe even going to a pumpkin patch is something in your radar. Pumpkin patches are fun, and have lots of other activities that go along with them. Some have hay rides, a petting zoo, or even a chili contest. If you are looking for something fun to do with the family it is totally do able. You have all different sizes and shapes of pumpkins to choose from. You can bring them home and either paint them or carve them. Did you know that they have ugly pumpkins at the patch. They have green warts on them and it makes them look dysfunctional. I don't know who actually picks them but I'm sure someone out there would.

Entry #1 Blogzzz

Blogs are a way for people to voice their opinions and share things that they are passionate about. Some people are crazy bloggers and care what other people think about their blogs and other bloggers could care less what others think about their blog. Blogs can be useful and not so useful. If someone needs to find something or is interested how to do something they can look up on a blog how to. They can be not so useful for who people post ridiculous things that no one else cares about but themselves. Blogs depend on if you want to voice your opinion to the world or keep it to yourself.

One blog I read was called Dark Roasted Coffee and it was different. It was kind of all over the place and had different topics that it talked about. It talked about Cool Technology to friendly animals, kind of two random topics. Another blog that I found interesting was called Post Secret. People decorate a card and send it in and one of their secrets is posted on the blog. It was interesting because some people went pretty dark with their secrets. It was also a way for people to get what's in their mind out so it is not taunting them anymore.

Info About Me

Hi, my name is Kayla. I like sleeping, probably a lot more than I need. I don't like people that are rude to others, and I have never been to disneyland. For fun I like to ride horses. My dad is a horse trainer so I have grew up around horses. I compete in College Rodeos doing Barrels, and Breakaway. Riding horses has always been one of my favorite things in this world, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Like I said earlier I'm going to school to be an elementary teacher. I plan to transfer from GCC with an associates degree and purse my masters. I also am looking into majoring in speech pathology, but I will figure that out when I get there. That is a little information on me.
